'Narratives' with Diana Blok & Lydia Schouten
Tuesdays 18 & 25 September, 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30 October 2012
10 am – 12.30 p.m. and 1.30 – 4 pm
The emphasis of this workshop lies on telling personal stories in connection to time, space and the PRESENT. We will seek out interfaces and areas of tension between photography and the moving image in which fusion may occur. Because of the enormous amount of images that is offered to us by the media, content and layering become more and more important. The increasing interest in the combination of photography and video is the immediate cause for an investigation into various ways in which ‘narratives’ can be constructed using a combination of these media.
The artist’s own attitude towards the work is also a key element in this workshop. An important instrument for obtaining more insight is setting up a personal dossier in which fascinations, inspirations, and connections with other artists and photographers are recorded. This dossier, to which new work is added regularly, will form the basis for further artistic production.
Photographer Diana Blok and performance and video artist Lydia Schouten each bring their own extensive experience to provide a special combination of expertise and inspiration.
