Basics of painting

The goal of this workshop is to improve basic painting skills in order to develop technical abilities that are geared specifically toward the own content. The basic assumption is that content and (painting) technique are inextricably linked, like the two sides of one hand.

Which technique will best complement which idea to achieve optimal results? The needs of each individual participant will be assessed, after which they will receive a program of tailor-made exercises and assignments.

Brush stroke techniques, knowledge of materials, nuance and colour, form, base, opaque and transparent paint, as well as mediums used in painting will be researched on their usefulness to the participant.

This workshop aims to be both oracle and research lab, working on the assumption that freedom in technique will enhance content.
