On Friday 28 November 2014, at 5 pm sharp (before HOOGTIJ #39) the exhibition Devils and Angels: Ritual Feasts in Europe by photographer Friso Spoelstra will be opened by cultural historian Thomas von der Dunk.
Devils and Angels is a photography exhibition about regionalism and identity and the meaning and perception of folk rituals in Europe.
During the opening, a book by the same name (published by Lecturis) will be presented. On the same day the December issue of National Geographic, featuring an extensive photo-reportage by Friso Spoelstra will be released. These photos will also be shown at GEMAK.
On Friday 12 December 2014, GEMAK will organize a seminar to accompany this exhibition. Participants will include photographer Friso Spoelstra and cultural anthropologist/documentary maker Wendelien Voogd. More information will follow.
